About Dental Veneers

What Are Dental Veneers?

Dental veneers are thin, custom made laminates designed to be applied to the front surface of your teeth improving their appearance. Veneers can change the color, shape, size, and length of your teeth once they are bonded to the original tooth.
Veneers are made from resin composites or more commonly from porcelain. Porcelain will not stain as easy and look more natural. Your dentist will help you decide the best material to use in your situation.

Do I Need Veneers?

Dental Veneers are a great option when trying to fix common dental issues like:

    • Discolored Teeth
    • Worn Down Teeth
    • Chipped or Broken Teeth
    • Irregular Shaped,
    • Misaligned, or uneven teeth
    • Gaps in Teeth

Dental Veneer Process

You’ll usually need to visit your dentist a few times when you’ve decided to get veneers.

You’ll need consultation so the dentist can evaluate and go over the plan with you. You will need to let the dentist know what results you want and understand what can be achieved. The dentist will inspect your teeth and ensure veneers are needed. You may also need to take x-rays and/or impressions of your teeth.

The second visit will be to prepare your teeth for dental veneers. This requires removing a small amount from the surface of your teeth. You may need local anesthetic for this procedure. At this point, the dentist will make a impression of your teeth. This will be sent to a lab which will create your veneers and will take around 2-4 weeks. In some cases, temporary dental veneers can be placed.

The third and final trip will apply your new veneers permanently. The dentist will shape the veneer to a perfect fit and ensure the color is correct. You may need to return for an evaluation and to make sure you are responding well to the veneers and ensure their placement.
