Meet Our Doctors

Mike Barno

D.M.D.

Dr Barno joined the practice in 2013 after serving for five years as a dentist in the United States Army. Dr. Barno received his BS in Biology from The Citadel and attended dental school at the Medical University of South Carolina on a full scholarship. In between undergraduate and dental school, Dr Barno studied Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at Indiana University.

Following dental school, Dr Barno joined the U.S. Army Dental Corps and completed a 1-year AEGD (Advanced Education in General Dentistry) residency that focused heavily on comprehensive dentistry, surgery, and complex treatment planning. He is an active member of the SC Dental Association, the American Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry. His professional interests lie in cosmetic and restorative dentistry (Crowns, Bridges, Dentures, and Implants) and endodontics (root canals).

In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons. He enjoys sculpture, playing drums, and running. He and his family live in Blythewood and are members of Blythewood Presbyterian Church. Dr Barno’s wife, Michaela, is the manager of the Blythewood Farmer’s Market.

Dr Barno is a veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) and was awarded the Combat Action Badge and the Bronze Star Medal for his service in combat with the 25th Infantry Division. He is a graduate of the US Army Airborne school, the Combat Casualty Care Course, and the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology’s Forensic Dentistry course.

I was very impressed with the friendly professional service. From the receptionist to the dental tech to the financial consultant. Dr. Barno was so kind and positive he really made me feel safe and comfortable. I drove 1 1/2 hours to get there it was well worth it. I highly recommend Brickyard Dental Group!

Chris Robnett

D.M.D.

Dr. Christopher Robnett started this practice over thirty years ago at its present location in Northeast Columbia. He grew up in the area and graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1974, Clemson in 1978, and MUSC in 1983. He met his wife Dixie while at Spring Valley and they have three grown children and currently six grandchildren.

As most of his patients know, he loves to sail on Lake Murray, play his upright bass as part of a praise ensemble at his church, and working with wood. Needless to say the increasing number of grandchildren takes precedence over all of this.

He says that most of all though, God has blessed him with not only an unbelievable wife and family but also a very special dental practice with great patients and staff. “I have had the unique opportunity to develop longterm relationships with countless patients/friends and we have gone through the highs and lows of life together. I also have the privilege of them trusting me for their dental health needs.”

Dr. Robnett believes that it is his responsibility to work closely with a select group of dental specialists to provide for his patients the treatment plan that will keep their mouth healthy for their lifetime. He takes a special interest in providing the restorative treatment necessary for this whether it be fillings, crowns, bridges or making crowns or partials that are to be used in conjunction with dental implants. He has also performed cosmetic procedures such as porcelain veneers since their inception in the 1980’s, along with composite bonding and bleaching.

Outstanding, especially in providing explanations of work done and planned. Thorough and apparently never rushed.

Drew Edwards

D.M.D.

Dr. Drew Edwards joined the practice in 2019. He grew up in the Atlanta area, and moved to Columbia to attend the University of South Carolina, where he majored in Marketing and Management. He worked as an EMT for a year before attending MUSC for dental school.

Dr. Edwards is passionate about patient care, and feels very fortunate to work in a practice committed to the health and well being of its patients. He looks forward to giving back to the community by fostering lasting relationships with his patients, based on a foundation of trust.

In his free time, Dr. Edwards enjoys playing guitar and singing at various restaurants and venues in Columbia. He also enjoys volunteering and community service, as well as exercising and playing with his dog, Penny.

Awesome Place to go. When I stayed in SC, I had a tooth ache that caused me to be in severe pain, and they came in on a Saturday to see me and help me get rid of the pain.

KOSHA SHAH

D.M.D.

Dr Robnett, Dr Barno, and Dr Edwards are excited to announce the addition of Dr Kosha Shah to Brickyard Dental Group.

Originally from Huntsville, AL, Dr. Shah attended UNC Chapel Hill and received a bachelor of science degree in Public Health with a minor in Chemistry. She then received her DMD from University of Alabama in Birmingham. She came to Columbia, SC to complete a one-year general practice residency at Prisma Health, and decided to make Columbia her home. She loves cooking, playing games with family and friends, and trying out new activities. Her newest hobby is pickleball! She stays involved in the community, volunteering with Harvest Hope, Children’s Dental Health Clinic, and Make-A-Wish of SC. What she loves most about dentistry is getting to know all types of people, learning about their culture, families, and passions. She is honored to work alongside other phenomenal dentists and be part of an amazing team.

Dr Shah is a wonderful person and a gentle and caring dentist. Her clinical skills and high standards for patient care made her the perfect addition to our practice. Please help us welcome her to the Brickyard Dental Group team.

My first consultation with Brickyard Dental Group was awesome. They warmly welcomed me and took great care of me through the entire visit. Looking forward to seeing them again!
