About Dental Bonding

What is Dental Bonding?

Dental bonding is when a resin is applied to teeth for restoration and to improve your smile. Made of a durable plastic, dental bonding is applied as a liquid and then hardened with light, thus bonding the material to the tooth. Dental bonding is often used to repair decayed teeth, such as to fill cavities or repair chipped in cracked teeth. Bonding can also be used to close gaps, enhance the color of teeth, and act as an alternative to fillings.

Dental bonding is the easiest and least expensive compared to crowns and veneers. Veneers and crowns are usually made in a lab, where bonding is done completely in the dental office and most procedures can be done in one visit unless there are multiple teeth to repair. Also, not as much tooth is removed for bonding compared to veneers and crowns and usually does not require anesthesia unless dental bonding is being used to fill a cavity.
